Very often, the solution lies "outside of the box". Trying something different may require a little leap of faith, but the positive outcome will be well worth it.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Repocessing (EMDR):
EMDR is a comprehensive therapeutic approach used for the treatment of trauma and PTSD. It incorporates many modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies.
EMDR is indicated for traumatic life events as well as for chronic issues of emotional abuse or invalidation that have resulted in negative self-beliefs, such as "I'm unlovable", "I'm not good enough", and "I'm a failure". It can also be helpful with anxiety, excessive grief, trauma, abuse, sexual assault, disturbing memories, teasing/bullying, performance anxiety, PTSD, and other emotional struggles. EMDR facilitates the full reprocessing of traumatic memories and disturbing life events, helping you to finally “let go of the past”, move forward with your life, and experience true healing.
Evolving Thought Field Therapy (EvTFT):
EvTFT is a psychotherapy approach that has its foundations in the Meridian System and Applied Kinesiology. EvTFT is a treatment within the field of energy psychology and can be used on its own or in combination with other therapies. This treatment approach is used to treat a multitude of psychological problems, and positive results are often seen more rapidly than with traditional talk therapy.
Following is just an example of some of the issues which EvTFT can effectively treat:
Trauma & PTSD
Anxiety & Panic
Phobias (such as fear of flying, heights, insects, elevators, public speaking, etc.)
"I have always been afraid of flying--my heart racing, palms sweating, grabbing the armrests with white knuckles whenever we hit any turbulence, studying the expressions on the faces of the flight attendants. After one session of EvTFT with Elana, I took two five-hour flights. For the first time in my life, I felt OK--no heart palpitations, no sweating, turbulence didn't upset me. I was even able to read a book and doze off. I never dreamed this was possible but that one session made a world of difference. No longer will I hesitate to travel just because I have to get on a plane. Thank you Elana!" -K.S.
"Doing EMDR has aided me in processing certain painful events that occurred in my life that I was having trouble letting go of. This allowed me to go through the emotions I had been hiding away for years. While I may have been uncertain at first, I gave it a try and, with time, was able to alleviate the negative reactions that accompanied these thoughts and memories." -A.L.
